Dramatic Club70th Birthday Celebration. On Saturday 18th October 2008, the Dramatic Club held a dinner in the St. Joseph's Hall to celebrate the founding of the Laigh Kirk Fellowship, from which the Dramatic Club was formed. Many members past and present were welcomed bt the President, Andrew Bryson. Past member Rev. Tom o'Leary said Grace, and the assembled company enjoyed an excellent meal, prepared on the premises that afternoon. A special 70th Birthday cake was cut by Netta Baird, one of the original memberswho, by coincidence, was also celebrating her birthday that day. After the meal Tom Raffel proposed the toast to the club, recalling some of his memories of plays and variety nights in which he had taken part. Hunter Withers gave a most entertaining reply in which he quoted some facts about the early productions which were noted in the original minuts book of the Fellowship. Esther Douglas finished the formal part of the evening by giving a comprehensive vote of thanks. Guests were invited to view a selection of past programmes and photographs of productions and rehearsals. This was a most enjoyable evening when old friends met and exchanged reminiscences and tales of past productions. |
