Choir

New Laigh Kirk Choir numbers around thirty ladies and gentlemen who Sunday by Sunday lead the congregation's sung worship as well as contributing an introit and an anthem on our own.

Most Sundays we decorate the chancel, clad in gowns of royal blue, but when the occasion requires, eg, communions, family services, nativity plays, we sit in the body of the Kirk - unfrocked, but still vocal.

From time to time we are involved in Church Concerts where a more secular repertoire may be presented.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings in the Church from 7.30 to 9.00, and like all choirs we are ever on the lookout to add to our numbers. The difference with a Church choir is of course, that those who join, while not necessarily members of the Church, should have some commitment to it and what it stands for. The bottom line for Church choirs is that they sing to praise and not to be praised.

Anyone interested in joining our Choir should contact me at 01563 538475, Martin Sharp the organist on 01563 524133 or indeed approach any member of the choir directly.
