Brownies
15th Kilmarnock Brownies and Rainbows have signed up to an exciting new fundraising programme which will enable us to turn other people’s trash into cash.
The Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal recycles old mobile phones, PDAs and used printer cartridges to raise money for our group. With an estimated 90 million redundant phones lying around the UK gathering dust and 35 million inkjet cartridges being used every year the earning potential is great!
We are encouraging all our supporters to get behind the appeal and not only save their own cartridges and handsets but also get their place of work involved. Taking part in the Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal is easy, and collections can be arranged to be collected from your premises. Supporting the appeal is great news for the environment too. When cartridges and mobiles are thrown out they end up in landfill sites where they can leak toxic substances into the surrounding soil polluting the earth. These items also take many years to biodegrade resulting in a long term environmental problem. Items donated to the Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal are reused or recycled and can generate vital funds for both Units!
Mobile phones are refurbished and sold on, often to lesser developed countries where they are an essential form of communication, while cartridges are refilled and returned to the consumer stream as an environmentally friendly product.
For further information on how you can support the appeal please call Brown Owl on 07869 737531
Thank you for your support – happy recycling!

Rainbows
The Rainbows start back on Wednesday 2nd September for girls aged 5 to 6 years. The Rainbows meet in the upper hall between 4.45 and 5.45pm.
Any of the Rainbows who are coming will be given details of the transport arrangements on the first night back.
Starlight
The 15th Kilmarnock Brownie Pack meets in the Upper Hall on Wednesday evenings. Rainbows meet from 4.45pm to 5.45pm and Brownies from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. Girls can join us from the age of five, and stay with us until they are between ten and eleven years old. By taking part in games, Brownies and Rainbows discover how to be part of a team. We aim to encourage the girls to learn new and practical skills, to do their best to meet special challenges and to help others at home, in the community and throughout the world. They can also work for a wide range of Interest Badges. |
